APIC DFW is a healthy chapter full of innovative leaders with a heartfelt passion for Infection Prevention that I am honored to be a member of. As an active member, serving previously as co-chair of the social committee and currently as a board member, I would value the opportunity to continue serving our chapter as president-elect. Infection Prevention partnerships are evolving and vital to creating a safer world with improved patient outcomes. I am dedicated to exploring and advancing new strategies to build synergistic alliances with like-minded organizations. As president-elect, I would strive to be a collaborative leader who engages/encourages members to build relationships, within APIC as well as other professional associations, strengthening the collaboration of shared interests and resources while working towards common goal.

I enjoy working with numbers and know my way around a spreadsheet.  I studied masters level accounting when obtaining my MBA from TWU in 2005.    I currently serve as treasurer for Mansfield Revolution 02 girls soccer team, part of the Mansfield Revolution competitive soccer club.  General duties I perform include: controlling and tracking the team finances; collection of contracted payments from players; outgoing payments of club dues, tournament, indoor, and referee fees; and providing support to the team manager with uniform orders and contracts.  I assist the coach with the team's yearly budget.  I have enjoyed serving the past year as the CLR and co-chair of GAC.  I feel the treasurer position is well suited to my skill set and interest.

Board of Directors

Rachel Watson

A native West Virginian, I had the privilege of serving on the Board of the WV APIC Chapter with a great group of ladies prior to relocating to Dallas. I also served as webmaster/content coordinator. I’ve been a national APIC member since 2012 and a DFW APIC member since 2014. I’m eager to get “re-involved” with APIC in a meaningful way. I’m certified in Infection control and hold a yellow belt in Lean Six Sigma (performance improvement). I’m passionate about good policy formulation, emergency preparedness, construction/renovation, and outbreak investigation.

After spending 2 years on the social committee, I would like to get more involved and do more for this great chapter!  I hope to serve in a different capacity.

I am new to the field of IP and excited about creating a network of peers. I am passionate about diving in and learning more from subject matter experts around me. I welcome the chance to serve in the chapter and am currently serving on the Sunshine Committee. I am ready to take my service up a notch and continue to grow.

APIC-DFW has provided me with great opportunities to network, learn, and grow professionally. Therefore, I would like to give back by serving on the Nominating Committee for a second year.  I've been an RN for 15 years, with the last 3 focusing on Infection Prevention. I just recently obtained my CIC and I'm excited to contribute my time and knowledge to our local chapter in whatever way possible.

As a nurse for five years, I've been a member of my professional organizations for all of them. APIC-DFW is the first though to actively engage me and instill a desire within me to build the local chapter. As a member of the Nominating Committee, I'd carry on this quality of APIC-DFW and build up our members to take active roles in the organization.
